Most of the fighters in the WBC World Cup have confirmed their participation. The Grand Prix consists of four tournaments in the following weight classes: 126, 140, 160 and heavyweight. Each tournament will consist of 32 fighters from around the world.
The organizers intended to set a field made up of fighters who were no older than 26 and had no more than 15 professional fights. While they haven’t been able to hold strictly to that initial plan, they have come fairly close.
Of the 109 fighters who have confirmed, only 14 are older than 26 and only two are older than 28 (we were unable to confirm ages on 10 other fighters.) Only 7 participants have more than 15 professional fights on their record and no fighter has more than 18 fights.
The field includes two reigning Olympic gold medalists in Uzbeks Lazizbek Mullojonov and Abdumalik Khalokov. It also includes two heavyweights making their professional debuts. There are fighters from 41 different countries confirmed at this point.
