This week we’re betting an undercard fight on Saturday’s Matchroom card on DAZN, Jack Cullen vs Avni Yildirim. This is a well matched fight where the victor will notch the most important win of his career. Cullen is tall and lanky but he will work on the inside and keep his hands busy. He doesn’t have much defense but he’ll stand and trade and make you work. He’s been hurt and stopped and is vulnerable to a power puncher. Yildirim will likely meet him in the trenches and throw with him. He’s been blown out and stopped in his major steps up against Canelo and Chris Eubank Jr, but Cullen probably lacks the power to get him out early. Yildirim might have trouble keeping up with Cullen’s pace and he will likely be at a disadvantage with the judges. But we think there’s a good chance this one isn’t going the distance. We also think we could see a good scrap. We think the fight is close to being a tossup, so we’re going with the Yildirim and the underdog odds.
$15 on Yildirim at +158
We’re also betting another undercard fight on the same card, Chris Billam-Smith vs Tommy McCarthy. Both guys have been beaten by Richard Riakporhe, McCarthy was stopped. His questionable chin might be the biggest factor in the fight. McCarthy will likely be looking to make Billam-Smith come at him and he’ll try to show some movement and control things with the jab. He’ll need to keep focused because Billam-Smith has enough pop to get him in trouble. We’ve seen Billam-Smith fight on the back foot at times and he may do that here. But we expect him to try to walk McCarthy down. He’s the favorite and we agree with that. But the line is too wide. We’re placing a one unit bet on McCarthy.
